Interim O.C. sheriff faces state probe:
The state attorney general is reviewing whether interim Orange County Sheriff Jack Anderson broke the law by appearing in uniform while trying to dissuade the San Clemente City Council from endorsing a former sheriff's lieutenant as a replacement for indicted Sheriff Michael S. Carona, who later resigned.
During a council meeting in November, shortly after Carona was indicted on corruption charges, Anderson, then an assistant sheriff, told the council members that Lt. Bill Hunt was not qualified to serve as Orange County sheriff.
Anderson has since announced his own desire to be the full-time sheriff. Hunt and several others also are considered candidates for the job….

Can an Investor Buy a Community College?:
…A private investor has offered to buy the online operations and students of Rio Salado College — a community college in Arizona where about half of the 60,000 students study only online — for at least $400 million, and officials at the Maricopa County Community College District, of which Rio Salado is a part, are considering the offer….

"The state attorney general" a.k.a."Moon-Beam Jerry Brown" reviewing anything other than his government printed paycheck is absurdity that even you liberal socialists should be ashamed of.
11:51 We've had parade of useless Attorney generals ...Dan "Gun grabber" Lungren, "I'm fat moron" Lockyer, and now "moonbeam" Brown. It doesn't seem to matter what party they are, all they care about is their sinecure, perks, and paychecks.
We have too break this two party "system". We are being ground to pieces between them.
Comparing Brown, who is actually a decent, thoughtful, and intelligent person with Lundgren (the champion of theocracy) is absurd. The name calling is amusing and all, but Brown was a first rate governor and deserves a defense.
Rio Salido? Didn't a considerable portion of the IVC leadership team take a flight to Phoenix to review how they were doing on-line instruction about a year ago?
Nice to see we agree on the Lungren creature. He is dangerous and a big part of why the Republican party has lost it all out here on the left coast. Where is lightning (or a two ton block of granite) when you need it?
The only thing I remember about our man Brown, that was good, was that laser and fire works show on capitol mall in Sacramento. That was GREAT!!! The bad stuff is too numerous to mention without a full on flame war here. We'll have to see how he does as A.G.. His record as Mayor of Oakland is a toll of hundreds of dead on his streets. It doesn't look good that he will be a good A.G..
Mr. Lockyer, as A.G., has personally affronted the people of my county. Our local DA (a useless POS) punted two Grand Jury reports to that equally useless gas bag replete with tales of malfeasance at my college. The evidence is incontestable. The crickets are still chirping.
You are indeed a voice of reasoned knowledged, torabora.
Our $400 million dollar college buying company seems to have a bus or maybe it's a fancy RV. It's run (driven?) by this born-again type named Clifford. It seems the closest he has personally been to an education system was getting a honorary degree from one of Jerry Fawells buddies. I'm underwhelmed.
Hope that bus doesn't point its way to the left coast!
Regarding Brown, I fail to see how he killed hundreds of people on streets of Oakland, which is a hopeless city.
He had a weal reasoned approach to the judiciary and the environment, and was a voice of humanity and dignity that is missed.
When Jerry Brown ran for Mayor of Oakland, the murder rate was the biggest issue. In a change of city policy Brown was given fiat control over the police.
In 2006 there were 145 murders in city of 400000 and 56 square miles.
In Irvine Ca., a 55 square mile city of 200000, there were 4 murders.
Brown failed at crime control. Now he has been promoted by the ignorant voters to be the top cop in our state. Why couldn't he just get a gig as a Community College President? He, like all of us, needs to find work that he can be good at, not work that he can get.
11:54 Two points. Firstly, I wasn't being hyperbolic about the murders in Oakland. The "toll" is the numerical, statistical, accounting of the murders. It is NOT a reference to how many people Jerry Brown murdered. Secondly, the "hopeless city" remark is galling. It represents the soft bigotry of low expectations. This country is capable of so much good. I cannot accept that nothing can be done.
I also lay blame at GAS and the Legislatures feet. As Governor, he should be front running for all the states needs and high murder rates should get lots of attention. There is alot of blame to throw around but by taking the job as mayor Brown made the problem his.
So, you're comparing Oakland to Irvine? I won't dignify the comparison with a response.
Also, Brown did not, as I recall, campaign by saying that he'd reduce the murder rate to that of an affluent white suburb. There is a reality to contend with, and Oakland's demographics are such that there's no easy way to change anything. It doesn't mean that JB was not a fine governor (which he was) or that he's ineffective as AG. I'll take him any day.
