Jeffrey Ray Nielsen—the well-connected Orange County conservative activist who claimed the so-called liberal media, specifically the Weekly, was out to get him by publishing a series of exposés on his pedophile activities—is expected to finally admit tomorrow that he used two boys for sex since 1994, according to law-enforcement sources.See also Jeff Nielsen is a conservative guy
A legal representative for Nielsen, who has extensive personal ties to Congressman Dana Rohrabacher and Orange County Republican Party boss Scott Baugh, told prosecutors early last week that Nielsen would plead guilty to two felony counts: committing lewd acts on a child under 15 years old and committing lewd acts on a child under 14 years old.
In exchange, Nielsen, 37, is expected to receive a three-year prison sentence, which is mild considering he faced more than 30 years if convicted of all the sex-crime counts in two scheduled upcoming trials. He will also have to register as a sex offender for life….
OC Reg, 12/05: Legislator's ex-aide pleads guilty to sex with boys
NIELSEN TAKEN UNDER THEIR WINGS:
On Friday, Tom Fuentes (the chairman of the OC Republican Party) called me and wanted me to meet him at Macy’s at South Coast Plaza. I got there and he bought me a suit. Then he took me to dinner and the sauna at the ritzy Balboa Bay Club. [Name deleted] told me he likes to reward hard-working young Republicans that he likes and he knows are going to go far. It was really rewarding. As you know, I’ve been working really hard on the Scott Baugh campaign. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 28. The only time I’m not working is when I’m watching a USC game, at church, asleep or writing you . . . or trying to get my law school applications together. I’ve got both my USC and Chapman applications typed. I’m working on getting all of my Letters of Recommendation together now. I’ve got Rohrabacher, Flanagan and Fuentes done. Today I found out that this guy who is the state chair of the Republican Party, Mike Schroeder (a friend of Rohrabacher), would also write me a letter of rec. It’s really good that he does because he’s on the board of trustees at USC Law School.–One of Nielsen’s letters to young “Billy,” in 1996 (Boy Crazy)

Five minutes ago, the OC Register posted: Street announces rating change:
Treaurer-Tax Collector Chriss Street announced today that more than $419 million of the county’s “certain structured investment vehicles” have been put on credit watch by Moody’s, the investors’ service. ¶ Street said the change, which he learned of Friday afternoon, is because of a change in Moody’s rating methodology. ¶ “This review does not reflect the performance of the investments but it does reflect how the investments are analyzed,” Street told the board. ¶ The county currently has 14 percent of the portfolio — or $837 million – invested in these ”structured investment vehicles,” Street said. Of that figure, about half has been put on credit watch, he said. The county’s total portfolio is worth more than $6 billion. ¶ Street, who faces a vote next week on whether he should be stripped of his investment powers because of recent controversies, said he wanted supervisors to know about the change as quickly as possible. ¶ “I want any information of this to be upfront and I don’t want people to have any surprises,” he said….The corrupt Street, of course, achieved office with the help of--you guessed it--our own Tom Fuentes.

Remind me again WHY you're writing about this guy on the college blog?
Was he a student?
Did he teach here?
What gives?
Obviously, he's another in a string of right wing hypocrites. He's affiliated with Fuentes and the other right wing assholes here in OC. Thus, it's important.
This story concerns the OC Republican "mafia" (the LA Times' term), which promoted and nurtured Nielsen for over a decade. Our district has innumerable connections to this mafia, which revolves around Mr. Mike Schroeder, the chief advisor to recently indicted Mike Carona (Irvine Valley College's "Hometown Hero" and a recent guest speaker) and Tony R (OC's corrupt DA). Schoeder himself participated in the Recall of SOCCCD Trustee Steve Frogue and has very close ties to former County GOP chief and SOCCCD trustee Tom Fuentes, who is the chief supporter, on the board, of our despised Chancellor, Raghu P. Mathur. Mathur has long participated in the "mafia's" efforts to mentor bright (or not-so-bright) young Republicans and groom them for office. For instance, Mathur worked with former IVC Student Government President Anthony Kuo (Remember when Mathur got Kuo to nominate Rodney Poindexter as "Administrator of the Year"?). Nowadays, Kuo has his fingers in many a OC GOP pie, and he is poised to run for office.
You cannot understand the SOCCCD without understanding local GOP politics, especially as it concerns the dying old right-wing, led by Fuentes. Mr. Nielsen's GOP pious-yet-morally-bankrupt cronies are the Neanderthals that make life miserable for us here in the SOCCCD.
OK?
Dissent the Blog routinely covers local politics, especially when it concerns education or Trustee Fuentes and his crowd of unprincipled and ruthless rat bastards.
This is what you get when the likes of Fuentes, Carona, Rackaucus, Schroeder, et al., hold the power.
When will it all end?
You forgot to mention Fuentes' corrupt pal, OC Treasurer Chriss Street!
Anyone close to Fuentes is a RAT BASTARD. Especially Mathur.
First Carona, now THIS!
Fuentes is such a great judge of character.
I bet Nielsen will be forced to wear women's underwear in the pokey.
It's Chunk's blog so he can write about whatever he likes. If you don't like it start your own blog.
At long last, the OC Reg is on the case: Legislator's ex-aide pleads guilty to sex with boys; Jeffrey Ray Nielsen worked for Rep. Dana Rohrabacher in 1994, when he met one of the two boys.:
SANTA ANA – While his mother cried in the courtroom gallery, a former aide to an Orange County congressman stood between his two lawyers today and admitted molesting two boys.
Jeffrey Ray Nielsen’s admission came nine months after he insisted when he testified during his first trial that he never had sex, exposed himself, kissed, or touched one of the boys.
That case ended with a hung jury.
Since then, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office filed a second case against Nielsen, charging him with molesting a Virginia teenager he met in 1994 when he was an aide in Washington D.C. to Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Huntington Beach.
Nielsen decided to plead guilty this morning to molesting both boys – and accept a three-year prison sentence – rather than risk convictions during a second trial. He would have faced a maximum sentence of 11 years in prison had he been convicted on all counts.
He declined to comment after the court hearing. Defense attorney Paul S. Meyer would only say, “We felt it was time to resolve this case.”
Nielsen will remain free on $10,000 bail pending his admittance on Jan. 14, 2008 into a program at a Los Angeles hospital that specializes in treatment of sex offenders.
Superior Court Judge David A. Thompson scheduled Nielsen’s official sentencing for April 18. But the sentencing will likely be moved up if Nielsen completes the in-house treatment program earlier.
Nielsen will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
The case drew widespread attention because of Nielsen's connections to several Orange County Republican leaders.
He worked as a legislative aide in Washington D.C. for Rohrabacher and once worked on an Assembly campaign of Scott Baugh, now the Republican Party chairman in Orange County. .
In addition, Nielsen was given recommendations to University of Southern California law school by Republican activists Tom Fuentes and Michael Schroeder. Also, his father, Ben, is a former Fountain Valley mayor.
Nielsen also worked for a brief time as an intern in the Orange County District Attorney's Office.
Sooooo, who tolerated the likes of Nielson for so long?
Where are Rohrbuaher, Baugh and Fuentes on this matter?
When do they apologize, 'fess up - whatever - take some responsibility?
And why did this case drag on? Who was behind this guy almost getting away with it?
