Our hero!

On the 4th of April, 2003, the Irvine Valley College Foundation issued this press release:

...The Board of Governors of the Irvine Valley College Foundation announced today that Orange County Sheriff Mike Carona will be the guest of honor at the annual IVC Foundation Awards Dinner, to be held at the Irvine Marriott Hotel … The theme of this year’s dinner will be “Securing the Future.” “We are proud to announce that Sheriff Carona will receive our Hometown Hero Award and will be acknowledged for his contribution to the community” ….

Proud? How come? Everybody knew by then that Mike Carona is a corrupt rat bastard. He’s part of that awful Fuentes/Schroeder crowd, which includes the county’s corrupt DA, among others. (Former OC GOP chief Tom Fuentes has been a trustee of the South Orange County Community College District—which oversees IVC and Saddleback College—since July of 2000.)

The “Orange County mafia” (see The man who sued his own mother) is a group of right-wing Republicans that spend their time playing political hard-ball, or worse—lots worse. Plus they like to give each other prizes and opportunities to “lead" the moronic Republican masses.

We last saw OC mafioso Carona at IVC during its solemn “9-11” commemoration more than a month ago. (See pics.) At the time, people fell over each other praising this man and his words—which, in truth, were shit.

Especially Tom Fuentes.

Well, as you know, Mike was indicted today (O.C. sheriff indicted on corruption charges will not resign), along with his wife and former mistress.

Our hero!

I guess Carona won't be at tonight's gala.

Careful Chunk. Owing to your superb coverage of the recent fire near your homestead, those rat bastards now know where you live.

"Innocent until proven guilty" - except on this suck-ass left wing Dissent the Blog - where psuedo intellectual shitheads congregate to critique the world. What a fuckin' joke!

8:35 - I suggest reading the indictment. The OC Weekly has a link to the entire document -easy to download and pretty damning.

Say goodnight Mike

8:35...Are you gonna visit Mike when he is imprisoned? Maybe you'll get him a subscription to the National Enquirer to satisfy his "real" (as opposed to our pseudo)intellectual needs. Better yet how about kicking to his defense fund so he doesn't have to pay. Maybe the Irvine Valley College Foundation can throw another money losing fundraiser to help him out. Perhaps Goo will have a coffee can outside his office for spare change. Some friend you are...complaining to his detractors. What a jerk.

The trustee with the glasses and moustache looks like he's wearing one of those disguises with the glasses, fake nose, and moustache. Haahahaha!

I like the fact that he wqas indictd along with his wife and longtime mistress who share the same first name Debra - THAT must have made things easy for him!

Or at least Debra must have been easy.

I can't stand Corona or any of his SOCCCD & IVC pals, alas, 8:35pm is right, "Innocent until proven guilty". I can wait.

Hey, 8:35 -- let me guess -- you're an angry white guy. Am I right?

Ya think?

Both his wife and mistress were named Debra? Wow. The late Vincent "Chin" Gigante, once boss of the Genovese crime family in NY, had a wife and long-term mistress (with lots of children between them) both named Olympia. That's a harder name to find a dupicate of . . . .

I'm not too knowledgeable in this area. Is this a frequent pattern?

Do some guys just like certain names?

Are they maybe worried about calling out the wrong name in a moment of passion?

Do they want to ease social tensions when running into a friend at a bar or restaurant? ("Hi there! Let me introduce you to [name].") Later that friend would say "Oh, yes, I saw him with [name]," and no embarrassment ensues?

Is a husband less likely to cheat if his wife has an unusual name for which he can't find a duplicate?

Will he cheat more and with more women if his wife's name is common?

Does this have implications for what we should name our daughters?

The world is so wonderful: Every day brings something new to ponder.

Well, if you're having sex with one you don't run the risk of calling out the wrong name.

Mike Carona, a Paradigm of Innocence. A Madrigal needs to be written celebrating the beauty of that sweet innocence. If someone else supplies the text, I'll take a stab at writing the music. But no guarantees. Surely, dealing artistically with such a profound ethereal subject as Mike Carona's innocence, truly reaching to the depths of that poetic soul, will be a daunting task. We can only humbly try our best.

No, I'm an angry black transvestite who reads Mao Tse Tung's Little Red Book every day and I'm married to a white lesbian atheist who teaches in the fine arts department. So love me because I'm just like you, 9:39, you fuckin' joke!

Those miserable Republicans! They're all corrupt!

The Republican party is primarily concerned about money and little else, so of course the corruption emanates forth.

As Fran Leibowitz said, the party used to at least have people who went to museums, but that's long gone. Now they only care about paying no taxes and kissing evangelical butt. What a bankrupt group they have become.

Wikipedia has the dirt on Mike Carona, "Americas sheriff". The links to the scandal stories are too funny. In a perfect example of Murphy's law, Mike is shagging his secretary in his cop SUV and accidentally hits the redial key on his cell phone. The whole thing is recorded on his "brother for life" Jaramello's home recording machine. The guy never erases the recording, becomes his enemy, and now the whole world knows what happenened in that SUV. I...Love...You... Mike! Can this get any better!

9:19, are you telling me *you* want to write the music for the Madrigal "The Innocence of Mike Carona?" Or that you and you significant other what to perform it at the world premier performance? Either way, OK! Just do a good job, alright?

Alannah, you are too funny! Thanks for the chortles. "OLYMPIA?!" The world is indeed droll and wonderful and too absurd for anyone to have made up.
