Chirpy
ELROY AND I visited Fannie at the hospital again—it's been two weeks now—and she’s doing well, though she’s pretty much stuck there until the Renal Twins (aka the kidney doctors) opine that she’s stable enough to go home. Who knows when that will be. (CLICK on photos to make them LARGER.)
Turns out, Fannie suffered from “minor chronic renal insufficiency” before surgery—a fact unappreciated by the surgeons at the time—whereupon she experienced “acute renal failure” during surgery.
The purpose of the surgery, of course, had nothing to do with her kidneys. That purpose was serious, but all has gone well on that score. Sheesh!
The unrecognized renal “insufficiency,” of course, helped cause the renal “failure.”
But all will be well, it seems. People (i.e., their kidneys) can recover from acute renal failure, although it can be slow going.
In this case, it is.
I was cheered today, not only by news that the chief Renal Twin was chirpy (re Fannie), but by news that Karl Rove was unchirpy. He's leaving the White House!
So, I’ve been whistling a happy tune all day.

It was beautiful again today in the City by the Bay. So I took some snaps.
The more I see of this city, the more I like it. Pretty soon, I hope to explore the Marin Headlands. Won’t that be cool? Indeed, it will be.

I'm just going to keep supporting these kinds of posts - they're so peaceful and nice looking.
So glad you gave an update on Fannie. You've made her into a person here who others care about now, Chunk!
If Rove were to be gone from civilization I would cheer with you. But we should be prepared for his slimage be used in full force by the delightful dirtbags who run the Republican party these days.
Rove's strategy of dividing the country and gaining power by a half a percent or so will be in great demand, and he'll be paid well for it. Maybe he'll eat too many cheeseburgers and explode, though, which would be wonderful.
I was bummed by Rove's announcement, only because he will not, apparently, suffer the ignominy he deserves due to his slimy, almost undoubtedly illegal, and certainly immoral ways. At least not yet. I want a public humiliation for the despot. He's taught me how to hate.
